I have a Bachelor of Journalism degree and an Honours degree in English literature. I have been a writer for most of my life. I started my career as a journalist in a daily newspaper. I later moved into public relations where I would help my clients - mostly in the technology, health, banking, and financial services arena - to promote their businesses and products. I would write their media releases, annual reports, brochures, websites and so on. I now earn my living as a freelance writer. About five years ago, I decided to try my hand at writing fiction. I wrote my first novel which was very well received. I have since written and published two more. I am busy writing my fourth book - a non-fiction biography about a little girl. I am passionate about sharing my love of English with others. I volunteer at a local primary school where I help second-grade children to read and write in English (usually English is their second or even their third language). In my spare time, I love reading. I enjoy all kinds of books – historical novels, biographies, crime. On television, I enjoy shows like Masterchef (although I really do not like cooking) and The Voice .. I also like to try and keep fit so I belong to a walking club and walk at least three times a week. I also do water aerobics regularly as this helps with flexibility and strength. When I am able, I love to travel. In South Africa, my favourite city to visit is Cape Town (I live in Johannesburg which is almost 1000km away). I also really enjoy safari-type holidays – we are very fortunate in South Africa to have many game reserves with the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo), some of which are not too far from Johannesburg. I also love to travel to different countries and I usually go at least once a year to visit family. I have never been to Japan, but it is on my bucket list.
